News:

  • Note from Jake: I do not condone the instigation of violence against anyone, including and especially a government.  The alleged plots against others by the Hutaree Militia are intolerable and, if these allegations are true, I commend the actions taken against them.  There are many, many good people that belong to un-organized Militias around this nation that do not need the bad publicity that comes from something like this.  With those two things in mind, I encourage you to read this article found over at LewRockwell.com that discusses the Hoover-era tactics being used to ‘take-down’ groups like this.
  • ABC recently did a pretty neutral piece on the Idaho Lightfoot Militia that included a few brief statement’s from Rex Rammell, an Idaho Gubernatorial hopeful.
  • Utah is looking to seize federally controlled land using eminent domain.
  • Here comes the final push to tax one of the four elements of life: carbon.  By having the EPA declare carbon a poison, the president will have circumvented the Constitutional legislative process, again.  Be ready for gas to go back up above $5 a gallon.  I recommend filling up your jugs while you still can.  On a related note, a reader in MS sent us a note saying that two local gas stations had run out of gas “because the trucks have stopped coming”.  When he asked the store owners why that was, they told him that they did not know.
  • Congressman Phil Har let’s the citizenry know how he feels.  Says, “”I don’t worry about the Constitution on this to be honest…”

  • JJ sent us this comical piece about a woman being put under house arrest for selling a goldfish.  Even more comical is the fact that it cost the taxpayers £20,000 to prosecute her… she was given a £1,000 fine.

Note from Jake:  The price of silver today closed at just under $18 an ounce.  Bob Chapman of the International Forecaster predicts that once the price hits $20 an ounce there will be no stopping it.  He has even gone so far as to say that silver will hit $100 an ounce by the end of 2010.

News:

  • Bill Murray of GATA reveals information about the price manipulation of precious metals by JP Morgan.
  • Yesterday, a 47 year old woman was shot during a “safety check” by the local tactical operations team.
  • Don’t expect to get a warning next time you are pulled over for doing 40 mph in a 35.  City and a State governments around the country are now using traffic citations to fill budget gaps.

Links From Readers:

  • Matt sent us this handy way to purify water using the sun.  Score one point for low-tech and another point for efficiency.
  • Cousin Cooter sent us this link.  RFID chips are something that have been on the radar for quite some time.  They are in many aspects of our daily lives.  If you have a driver’s license, credit card, or passport there is a good chance that you already have this technology in your pocket or purse.  There has even been a lot of talk about putting RFID chips inside your clothing.

Task of the day:  Sort through a bulk food order.  Yeah!!!  Nothing excites the soul like a ton (literally) of beans.

Garden update:  Wow, our seeds have really started growing.  The bell peppers popped out of the ground (finally) yesterday morning.  That means everything is all accounted for.  We are anxiously getting ready for our frost-free day.

News:

  • Even Harry Reid knew healthcare was a bad idea.  Check out his nice little Freudian slip.
  • So, are you sitting down for this?  Nearly 2,000 of Congressional staff members are making six figure salaries.  Wouldit not be nice if Congressman, and their staff, were limited to a salary that was equal to the national average plus 10%?  Just to help out with the math, that is roughly $45,000 a year.  Maybe instead of becoming ‘career politicians’ people would be in politics for a couple of years and then leave, heading back into the work force.  Believe it or not, this was the original intention of our nation’s founders.
  • Big Brother is at it again.  Studies indicate that ‘typing patterns’ can be used to fight crime.
  • Lew Rockwell points out the main opposition to peaceful dissent, “agents provocateur”.
  • John McCain and Joe Lieberman have teamed up to bring us the ‘Police State Act’ of 2010.  It will target anyone, including US Citizens, deny them their Miranda rights, detain them indefinitely, and ‘do what it takes’ to get the intel that they need (e.g. enhanced interrogation techniques).

Quote:  ”Anarchism does not mean bloodshed; it does not mean robbery, arson, etc. These monstrosities are, on the contrary, the characteristic features of capitalism. Anarchism means peace and tranquility to all.” –August Spies, Haymarket anarchist

News:

  • Note:  Though I can sympathize with their frustrations, I do not condone or support any of these tactics. Around the country we are hearing reports of legislator’s offices being vandalized, mysterious substances being sent, and in one instance, a coffin on the lawn (I admire the creativity).  People are getting fed up.  I do not expect this to be the end of ‘attacks’.  Sooner or later things are going to be escalated by one side or another; when that happens you must have a plan.  Do not get caught in a situation that can get out of control, and never underestimate the power and fury of the mob.
  • Speaking of mobs, Philadelphia has recently been the scene of the latest trend, flash mob meets ghetto fights.
  • The president has triple-dog ‘dared’ Republicans to try and repeal the new health care law, citing the usual rhetoric.
  • Though the Congressional Budget Office didn’t expect this to happen till 2016, this year the payout of Social Security benefits will exceed the amount that is paid into the system.  Yet another sign that the system is broken, seemingly beyond repair.
  • Nothing surprises me anymore.  MSNBC’s Ed Schultz is calling for government takeover of the airwaves, specifically talk radio.  I may not be a Rush fan, but I still support the 1st Amendment.

Check this out:

  • Everyone, on one level or another has heard of the Glock ‘torture test’.  I must say, this one takes the cake.  After reading all of the things that this fella’ has done to his pistol (cringing every moment of the way), I am once again proud to say, “I shoot Glock.”
  • I’ll add this to my ’24-hours left to live bucket list’.  They are both either, completely insane or have cojones ferreas.
  • The Colonel sent us this video demonstrating the effectiveness of many different types of shotgun ammunition.  I think my favorites are the flechette rounds and the ‘string buck’.

Wiggy’s Sale

Posted by Jake. No Comments

Wiggy’s, a Colorado outdoor gear manufacturer, is now running a sale on all of their gear.  They are offering 20% off and free shipping on all orders.  I highly recommend their gear.  theWife and I both have one of their sleeping bags with the FTRSS option.  The FTRSS option provides an extremely flexible, American made sleeping system that is guaranteed for life. If you are buying a bag for both you and a spouse be sure to ask about having them made into a ‘mated pair’.  This allows you to zip the bags together and get extra cozy.  :)

Don’t miss out on this great deal!
